Instead of snow, the area has seen plenty of rain on the first day of winter. Combined with temperatures dropping below freezing Sunday, roads could icy.
Meanwhile, many Bronx residents are trying to clean up the mess left by the winter storm Friday.
While the rain takes away from the winter wonderland look, shoveling the slush is a necessity, resident Peter Toledo says.
"It goes with the territory," he says.
Drivers also are changing habits on the roads, taking it much slower on both streets and the highways.
