Ramapo police say a pedestrian tried to attack an officer during a traffic stop on Wednesday.
They say the 23-year-old male unexpectedly approached a Ramapo police officer on College Road and engaged in a physical altercation, attempting to strike him with a closed fist. The officer managed to restrain and successfully apprehend him.
The suspect was taken into custody and is now facing charges for attempted assault, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
The suspect was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at Ramapo Justice Court next week.
