Ramapo residents are set to face a rise in town property taxes in the upcoming year as part of the nearly $131 million budget.
Supervisor Michael Specht cited a 7% increase in town costs for residents as a key reason behind the tax hike.
This increase is attributed to rising expenses in fuel, electricity, water utilities, as well as amplified demands for police and emergency medical services.
Notably, police spending accounts for a significant portion, comprising 45% of the overall budget. The budget encompasses 12 villages and unincorporated areas and is also earmarked to cover raises for town officials.
