A judge ruled that a Redding woman accused of neglecting dozens of goats can't own animals for two years and must take part in a rehabilitation program.
Judge Maximino Medina granted Nancy Burton a two-year accelerated rehabilitation program on Monday.
Police say in 2021, Burton turned herself in on 65 counts of animal cruelty charges, one for each goat confiscated.
Court documents stated officials also found over 40 dead goats, some in plastic bags, trash bins or partially buried.
If Burton fulfills the rehabilitation's conditions, all 65 counts of animal cruelty will be dismissed.
