Rockland County is mourning the death of a young woman who inspired thousands through her courage and advocacy.
Lauren Shields, a double transplant recipient, died at the age of 26 on June 25.
Shields received a heart transplant at just 8 years old and a kidney transplant at 20.
She later helped inspire "Lauren's law," which makes it easier for New Yorkers to register as organ donors through the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City.
A funeral mass to celebrate Shields' life is scheduled for Friday morning at St. Augustine's Church in New City.
