Rep. Mike Lawler told News 12 that he "fully supports the president's decision to strike at three nuclear facilities in Iran to end the nuclear program."

"I think its frankly a lot of politics as opposed to recognizing the reality of the situation and frankly the threats posed by a nuclear Iran,” he said. “Presidents in both parties have said Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, members of congress have said that repeatedly, and ultimately, it was time to make a decision."

He added that law enforcement agencies in and around the Hudson Valley will continue to monitor any possible threats in the wake of the strike.

Rep. Latimer says he needs to know more about the facts before rushing to judgement on the president's decision to attack Iran.

"I think we have to know, what did the president know when he decided and did he consult with congressional leaders. I also want to know the precedent from other times. Is it an outlier action compared to other presidents? And then make a comparison to whether it's right or wrong," he said.

Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries also commented on the situation, stating in part, “President Trump misled the county about his intentions, failed to seek congressional authorization for the use of military force and risks American entanglement in a potentially disastrous war in the Middle East."
