A Rockland DACA recipient has been invited to Washington for President Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday.
Hugo Acosta is a DACA recipient who was brought to the United States from El Salvador as a child. The Pearl River man is at risk of facing deportation after his protective status expires in November.
Rep. Lowey invited Acosta as her guest to the State of the Union after he wrote a letter to Lowey expressing his fears.
“This is really the country of dreams where things are possible,” says Acosta. “I want to make sure people are aware that we sacrificed ourselves to be the best that we can be."
Lowey— a DACA supporter— believes it will eventually receive bipartisan support in both chambers.
