Rep. Ryan proposes firefighters bill to help prevent and detect certain cancers
Ryan says the legislation will make sure firefighters and their families get the benefits they deserve.

Rep. Pat Ryan (D-18th District) is introducing legislation to support firefighters across the Hudson Valley.
Ryan's Fighting for our Fighters bill includes a plan to prevent and detect certain cancers by directing the Department of Defense to include cancer testing as part of the civil service firefighter's annual medical exam.
Provisions are also included to make sure federal firefighters receive full pension credit and retired firefighters receive full Social Security.
"I want to make sure that you all know that all the conversations I've had with you and your leadership, I carry that with me to the craziness of D.C. and try to make sure that we keep rooted in your willing to serve and sacrifice and make sure that we've got your back," says Ryan.
He says the legislation will make sure firefighters and their families get the benefits they deserve.
