Report: Deadly Yonkers fire that killed man and displaced residents started by unattended candles

A fatal fire that destroyed two homes in Yonkers earlier this month was caused by unattended candles, according to reports being finalized by the Yonkers Fire Department.
The fire broke out Sept. 9 at 13 Cedar St. The cause will be classified as accidental, officials said.
A 28-year-old man died in the fire. Two other residents were hospitalized.

No one was injured at 15 Cedar.
Both homes sustained significant damage and were condemned by the city's building department. Repairs will be required before the buildings can be occupied again.
