New York's hospital safety ranking has declined, placing among the worst nationally, according to a new study.

Washington D.C. nonprofit D.C. Leapfrog says only 16 hospitals statewide received the highest safety grade with two of them located in the Hudson Valley: White Plains Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, both receiving an "A."

On the other end, Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital and Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla received a "D" grade.

The study primarily focuses on preventable safety issues, including infections, medical mistakes, and other patient-related concerns.
