Residents across the Hudson Valley went to the polls today for School Vote 2014.
The Orange County community of Kiryas Joel had the largest proposed tax increase on the ballot at nearly 12.5 percent. Voters overwhelming passed the measure by 92 percent.
The nearly $16 million budget proposal in Tuxedo was defeated because it didn't get the 60 percent "super majority" needed to pass.
In Westchester, voters in Rye overwhelmingly approved a nearly $70 million school budget and the 1.6 percent tax hike that goes with it.
In Rockland, Pearl River voters passed a $63 million budget that carries a tax hike of one-tenth of a percent.
The polls opened at 6:30 a.m. and closed at 9 p.m.
