Residents at a Harrison apartment complex say they have been left without updates after being displaced by to a fire more than a week ago.

Amber Nordmann Vega lived on the third floor at 3 Calvert St. until last Tuesday when the fire broke out on the fifth floor around 5:30 p.m.

"It's so stressful, I can't even think straight. It's been crazy these past few days," says Nordmann Vega.

Vega was in her apartment at the time of the fire and managed to get herself and her cats out.

Residents like Carol Ann Summa, who lived on the first floor, found out through a phone call. Her daughter was able to get her dogs out.

"I was at work when the fire started. My daughter called me, and thank God, she told me there was a fire and to get home quick," she says.

More than two dozen people who lived in the apartment were left without a home.

They have all been relocated into different hotels, including in Mamaroneck, where Summa has been staying.

"We have to be out by Friday, and we have nowhere to go," she says. They've been told the hotels provided will no longer be available to them after Friday, giving them one option.

"They're offering us the New Rochelle shelter. And nobody wants to go there, everybody has animals," says Vega. 

They've asked when and if they'll be able to go back to their homes but received different answers every time.  

A GoFundMe has been created to help the residents impacted from the fire.
