Residents say some Bronx streets are buried under trash despite the garbage cans that are stationed at almost every corner.
News 12 spoke with residents on 149th Street in The Hub who say the area is one of the dirtiest in the city.
They say rats have become an increasing problem due to all the trash. Business owners News 12 spoke with say it's difficult keeping the sidewalk in front of their stores clean because some people would rather toss what's in their hand onto the ground than into a garbage can.
A city sanitation department supervisor told News 12 the sidewalks in the area are cleaned five days a week.
About an hour after News 12 spoke with the supervisor, crews showed up and picked up all the discarded trash littering several blocks in the area.
