Residents gear up for Wednesday's impending wintry weather
With Wednesday's impending weather in mind, News 12 asked Neuhaus what crews across the county were doing to prepare.
Orange County residents were faced with some messy road conditions last Tuesday due to some wintry weather.
"They were very, very snow-covered, dangerous. There were accidents all over the place when I went out," said resident Tina Trainor.
According to Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, there were nearly 200 crashes reported across the county.
With Wednesday's impending weather in mind, News 12 asked Neuhaus what crews across the county were doing to prepare.
"They'll be out before the commute to make sure that if the accumulation is starting, the snow is starting, then they will be salting the roads," he said.
Agencies told News 12 that they would not be out Tuesday night treating the roads since the weather isn't expected to hit until the afternoon on Wednesday.
"There's always things that can change that can impact it. So basically, we are monitoring it," said Neuhaus.
As for commuters, they said no matter what, they make sure to take it slow.
"You have to be very careful because you never know where there's black ice. You never know. The road could freeze at any given moment," said driver Kerry Sullivan.
"I just take it easy. I just take it easy. I make sure that I give myself extra time," said Trainor.
