Residents in Ramapo near the Mahwah River are sick and tired of the constant downpours that have caused persistent flooding problems.
The low-lying area in the northwest region of Rockland is getting hit hard once again Friday. Many residents say they have been relying on pumps to get rid of all the excess water. For neighbors in the flood zone, the rain has to completely stop before they can finally dry out.
The Ramapo highway supervisor says the problem is not only caused by the rising Mahwah River, but also the mountains that allow the water to flow down into the valley.
