We're checking out a picture-perfect staycation in Westchester County on this Road Trip: Close to Home.
We begin at Thompson's Cider Mill in Croton-on-Hudson, known for some of the best apple cider and apples in the Hudson Valley.
Since 1976, the family-owned business has been growing its own apples with countless varieties to choose from.
"What we offer here is unique," says owner Greg Thompson, "It's on a smaller scale but we are able to customize what we sell here."
That means you can try different kinds of apples that you won't find in many places, and that includes their cider.
In fact, some that you sip can contain more than 20 different varieties of apples, blended on-site into crisp liquid gold.
Take your road trip snacks to our next stop, Peekskill Riverfront Green Park.
Between the sculptures and views, the breathtaking backdrop brings peace.
Speaking of peace, you can actually spot a quiet oasis sitting atop the views at the park, and it's where we're heading next.
The Abbey Inn and Spa is a place for your mind, body and soul to retreat and relax with good company.
You can book an appointment from an expanding menu of soothing massages and treatments
Then, sit down with a good meal at the restaurant.
But it doesn't have to end there!
Book a room. stay the night and make this Hudson Valley moment last.
