Hanukkah
celebrations continue today across the nation and in
the Hudson Valley.
Chabad of Yonkers marked the first night of the
holiday this weekend.
The evening began with a Hanukkah Car Parade and
then the Yonkers Fire Department lit the menorah. "We always try to give an honor to someone; we saw the gentleman who lost his mother allowing
him to light the first candle was in honor of her memory," says Meghann Hongach, general
manager of Ridge Hill.
The celebration included dancing, a fire
juggling show, and the tossing of candy coins for the kids.
Rabbi Mendy Hurwitz says the celebration is all
about coming out together into the light.
