New Jersey-based Mets fans face quite a journey to get to the ballpark. They have to cross two rivers or use several transit methods.

But now the team is offering a new way for its fans - the Citi Field Direct shuttle.

Fans can board an Academy Bus from Paramus Park or Newport Centre. This service is also offered from Long Island and the Bronx.

Fans don’t have to pay to park at the mall. A single bus ticket is $8; groups can buy four tickets for $22. It arrives at the stadium 90 minutes early and leaves 30 minutes after the last out.

Even in the morning, it’s a lively bunch aboard the bus.

Mets fans from Dayton and Sparta said they used to spend 2-3 hours driving to Queens each way to go to games.

On the day News 12 took the bus, a crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway had delayed the George Washington Bridge crossing by 90 minutes. So, the bus headed north instead, crossing the Mario Cuomo Bridge, heading down through Yonkers and eventually crossing the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge into Queens.

The trip took one hour and two minutes, and arrived at the park about 90 minutes before the first pitch.

If a fan took a similar drive from Paramus Park Mall, it would cost over $70 in parking and bridge tolls. Other fans opt for NJ Transit and the MTA. Seastreak Ferry also offers a ride from Highlands for $80 or $85.

And for New Jersey's Yankees fans - you can check out the News 12 gameday transit guide here.
