Donna Cronin, the ringleader of a promotions scam at the Yonkers Raceway, pleaded guilty late Tuesday afternoon to grand larceny and fraud charges.
Investigators say Cronin, Alicia Murray and Terrence Osborne rigged promotional giveaways, pre-determining the winners and then taking illegal kickbacks from them. Westchester D.A. Janet DiFiore says the three were the "heart and soul of the operation."
Cronin will get six months of shock probation, including weekends in jail, and will have to pay back the $103,000 she stole. Murray also pleaded guilty Tuesday was sentenced to eight weekends in jail and has to pay $30,000.
