Road Trip Close To Home to the Bear Mountain Inn in Rockland County gives guests a close‑to‑home escape rooted in history.

The hotel, built in 1915, was originally constructed as a retreat for travelers exploring the countryside. Guests today still find the rustic feel that has defined the inn for generations.

“It’s rustic, it’s charming, it’s quaint, it’s off the beaten path,” said guest Ann Chesny.

Inside, visitors see stone fireplaces, timber beams and hallways that have been walked for decades. Manager William Van Dunk said the inn offers a peaceful break from daily routines, with 15 rooms and three suites available.

Dining options include the Restaurant 1915. Food and beverage manager John Sharp said the space offers lunch, brunch, dinner and afternoon tea.

The property also features a spa. Owner Annette Wolf said treatments range from Swedish and deep tissue to the Lavender Garden experience.

Families can stop at the Bear Mountain Carousel. The gift shop also invites guests to browse items highlighted by staff. Sales employee Lidia Neri said the space feels like a second home.

“You feel rejuvenated up here,” one visitor said, as the inn continues to offer a relaxing place to unwind.
