Hollywood has come to the Hudson Valley, with Greenwood Lake being transformed into the fictitious town of Bell Isle for the movie "Summer at Dog Dave's." The movie features actor Morgan Freeman and is directed by Rob Reiner.
Lori McCreary, the movie's producer, called Greenwood "perfect" as a stand-in for Bell Isle. "It seems like the script was written for this location. When we walked up here, we were like, it couldn't be better."
Scenes for the movie have been filmed along the lake's shore and downtown, featuring local extras. Local restaurant and business owners are also very happy, as the movie's cast and crew have brought a boost to the town's economy. Movie officials have even opened an account with the town's hardware store.
Filming is scheduled to continue through August 15, and the movie is set to be released next year.
