There's a new addition near the Nyack waterfront -- thanks to some local teens.
A kayak rack near the marina was recently built by students in the welding program at Rockland BOCES for the Village of Nyack.
Through this partnership, the village paid for all the materials, which cost $800, and then the students spent time putting it all together in about a week.
This is the second stand that welding students have made. The one they made last year is right next to the new one. "It’s just cool to see that it's actually in use and that people actually like using it. And the fact that it's so useful to this community as well," says Lyanna Wilcox, Rockland BOCES.
"So it's great to see the way we can work together to make a difference in our community with both BOCES and the village," says Nyack Mayor Don Hammond.
Nyack tells News 12 that spots on the kayak racks can be rented out year-round, for convenience.
