News 12 spoke with Rockland businesses this week ahead of Passover which said they saw a boost in sales.

Wine on 59 in Airmont was busy as people bought a holiday necessity - wine.

The business owner, Yoel Huss, tells News 12 the store has been open for 11 years. He says this week equates to about two to three months of sales.

On Thursday, our camera's saw a steady stream of people buying cases of wine and multiple trucks making deliveries.

News 12 heard from the business's consultant, Jay Buchsbaum, about wines' significance during the holiday while the owner took care of customers.

"Passover is a celebration of freedom," said Buchsbaum. "And Passover requires four cups, two nights in a row, for every single participant."

Next to that business is Mechel's Takeout & Deli. The restaurant stayed open overnight Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday to serve food.

News 12 was told this is a busy week for them, as customers order more take out after cleansing their kitchens for Passover.

"On a regular day we're pretty busy...thank God. But it doubles or triples," said Bentzy Zeilingold, of Mechel's.

The business then closes during the holiday and takes time to rest.
