First responders in Rockland County are learning how to treat pets impacted by emergencies.
Fire officials report that around 68% of homes have pets. 
They say programs like this offer unique insight to first responders on different situations they may run into when rescuing pets.
The program was offered to fire and EMS providers in Rockland.
