A Rockland County jury acquitted a West Haverstraw man of second-degree murder in a deadly stabbing case.

Darin Peterson, 29, was charged in connection to stabbings that took place in March 2021 at the Oiso Restaurant on Route 303 in Blauvelt. The incident left one Nanuet man dead and another hospitalized.

The jury began deliberating last Thursday and returned the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.

The jury remained deadlocked on several counts including manslaughter and assault.

The DA’s office says they plan to retry Peterson on those deadlocked charges. Both sides will be back in court next month.
