Two candidates running for the Rockland County legislature are weighing in on how best to protect children from sexual predators.
Republican candidate Ed Day has proposed a local law restricting sex offenders from within 1,000 feet of schools, parks and playgrounds. Day says it will give police the immediate ability to intercede when there is a potential for a crime against a child.
But Democratic incumbent Legislator Ken Zebrowski Jr. says there are already a number of bills proposed in the state Senate regarding this type of law and some take it much further. Zebrowski says he has proposed a law that uses GPS tracking technology to track the sex offenders that are in Rockland. He says it is a more thorough way of keeping track of the sexual predators.
