A Rockland County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for manslaughter tied to a fatal stabbing inside a Spring Valley apartment.

The sentencing was handed down last Thursday, officials said.

Authorities said 38-year-old Warle Arias-Fernandez fatally stabbed his partner, Carolyn Canella.

The incident happened inside their Spring Valley apartment in Feb. 2024, officials said.

The defense argued Arias-Fernandez acted under extreme emotional distress.

His attorney said the sentence is excessive and will be appealed.
