Cecelia Marshall, the widow of Thurgood Marshall, was in attendance as her husband and U.S. Supreme Court justice was inducted into the Rockland County Civil Rights Hall of Fame in Nyack Friday.
Thurgood Marshall made history at the Hillburn School by marching black students who were burned out of their schools into the segregated school. The action led to the landmark Brown versus Board of Education case of 1954, which ended segregation in America's public schools.
Five others who made courageous strides in the civil rights movement were also honored along with Marshall.
