219ds agoRockland County hospitals are now encouraging the public to take any appointments they can find for the COVID-19 vaccine.
That advice surfaced in a 90-minute forum hosted today by Dominican College with hospital leaders from Montefiore Nyack and Good Samaritan.
Hospital CEOs called the vaccine a scarce resource and urge the public not to worry over which vaccine they receive or even the location. "If you're persistent, people are getting appointments and as doses loosen up you may be able to accelerate or move up your appointment," says Dr. Mark Geller, CEO of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. "Trying to make sure you have vaccine for everyone is dependent on what the state gets to distribute through the entire state," says Dr. Mary Leahy, CEO at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Montefiore Nyack confirms it used up its vaccines early this week and has not received word as to when it will receive more.
