Rockland man puts up Christmas lights in honor of his late wife
Vincent “Vinnie” Barrasi has been decorating his home on Lafayette Street in Tappan since 2013.
He puts up the lights in memory of his wife, Donata “Naty,” who died in 2012 from cancer.
Her photo is on his front door.
“I’ll never stop,” said Barrasi. “She’s looking at me now, I know.”
The couple was married for 53 years and Christmas was his wife's favorite time of the year.
His outside display is the largest it's ever been - with more than 100 soldiers, candy canes and hundreds of feet of lights.
It all gets set up in time for her October birthday, as well as her passing in November.
The 89-year-old's family has been stepping in to help in recent years because he broke both of his hips.
He says he grateful for them.
“It's love,” said Barrasi, “They love me and they know I love them.”
The Christmas light display will stay up into January.
