Rockland County is holding free drive-thru coronavirus testing for school districts in the yellow zone this week.
A portion of the county is under the state's yellow zone - requiring schools to test 20% of students and staff.
"We've heard over the last few weeks people waiting days for an appointment or get tested or showing up to an urgent care and waiting hours and hours, so we knew it was important to make this testing available," says county spokesprson John Lyon.
At one drive-thru, it took less than 30 minutes for people to get tested - and it took just 15 minutes for tests to come back.
If results are lower than the zone's current seven-day average, testing is no longer needed for in-person learning. If it's higher, testing must continue over a two-week period.
The testing is for school families only.
