He is charged with three counts of making false statements, two counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of Congress.
If convicted, Clemens faces up to 30 years in prison and up to $1.5 million in fines.
In 2008, Clemens testified before Congress that he had never taken steroids or human growth hormone.
Former teammates and trainers say the former Yankee did use performance enhancing drugs.
