A room in the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley was renamed in honor of the White Plains Fire Department Deputy Chief Kevin Heffernan’s late wife.
Nancy Heffernan was first diagnosed with cancer at age 16, and died 46 years later on June 11, 2023.
Her daughter Gabrielle Heffernan said her mom had a “special place in her heart” for families with sick children.
Nancy Heffernan volunteered her time to the Girl Scouts of America, the Vietnam Veterans of America and the White Plains Youth Bureau.
The room was dedicated to Nancy by the Police Union and the White Plains Fire Department.
