Entertainer Rosie O'Donnell has agreed to donate $80,000 to her home of Nyack to help a long-standing redevelopment project get under way.
The redevelopment of downtown Nyack has been in the works for three and a half years, spearheaded by the non-profit group Riverspace and the village.
The project, which is expected to cost anywhere between $10 million and $100 million, would cover some four acres of land along Main Street. City officials say it would revitalize the area and bring in jobs.
"Rosie O'Donnell's contribution of $80,000 is kick-starting the whole project of redeveloping downtown," says Debbie Reich, of Riverspace.
