Rye Playland is preparing to reopen this May as the amusement park enters its 98th season.
Park officials say visitors will notice changes throughout the property.
Peter Tartaglia from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation said work is underway on all rides and facilities. "There's work being done on every ride and every facility within the park," he said. He added that the Dragon Coaster is a multi-level ride receiving extensive attention. "The amount of care that's being taken to get it back to where it needs to open to the public has really been unbelievable," he said.
The preseason opening is scheduled for May 16 and 17. The grand opening is May 23.
