A Scarsdale police officer was dismissed by the village following an investigation into his actions with a driver who was allegedly involved in a fatal crash in Greenburgh a short time later.
The village board took the action against Ainsley Brown during Tuesday night's board meeting.
Brown had not reported to duty since soon after the incident, which occurred Aug. 26.
At that time, Brown investigated an accident involving Antonio Robles-Sanchez, of Brooklyn, and another motorist.
There were no injuries and minor damage.
Brown did not further investigate Robles-Sanchez.
A few minutes later, Greenburgh police say Robles-Sanchez's car struck and killed 65-year-old Stephanie Kavourias.
Police found Robles-Sanchez slumped over the wheel with pills in the car. He's been charged with vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Further investigation revealed he was wanted in Pennsylvania on drug charges.
Brown was on the force less than a year.
