A new health center is opening in Yonkers to meet disadvantaged kids right where they are.
COVID-19 exposed the longstanding health differences in people based on race and income.
That's why Montefiore is partnering with Yonkers Public Schools to open a clinic inside Museum School 25.
It will resemble a decked-out nurse's office, with medical, dental, vision and mental health services.
Students can just walk in without insurance and see a dentist, eye doctor, or therapist that they may not normally have access to.
This clinic is also open to kids who go to Riverside High next door.
Montefiore already has 32 of these school-based health centers, but this is the first outside New York City and in Westchester.
