State Sen. Ruben Diaz met Wednesday with New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan at the Catholic leader's headquarters in Manhattan.
The Bronx senator, an opponent of sex-same marriage, met with Dolan the same day a gay marriage bill was supposed to be voted on in Albany. However, the ongoing power struggle in the state capital has left most measures in limbo.
"What's happening in Albany is a mockery," says Diaz. He added he doesn't think a gay marriage bill will come to the floor. "There's no same-sex marriage bill. Nothing happening - no bill," says Diaz, who is a reverend.
Diaz says he and Dolan met to discuss issues important to both the evangelical and Catholic communities.
