Shooting in Mount Vernon leaves 1 dead, 1 injured, suspects sought

A late-night shooting in Mount Vernon left one person dead and another injured Wednesday.

The shooting occurred around 10:25 p.m. near 22 West Lincoln Ave., where officers found two male victims.

One victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the left underarm and died at Mount Vernon Hospital.

A second victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left forearm and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center. Police have not given an update on his condition.

"This area is very quiet, I honestly have never seen anything strange happening here," says Gabriel Souza who works in the area.

Police haven't released details on the victims' ages or identities.

There's no word right now on a possible motive.

The Mount Vernon Police Department is seeking suspects and asking that anyone with information call them at 914-665-2510.
