Helicopters are scooping 350 gallons of water at a time from the Hudson River to combat the fire, while ground crews work the wooded areas.
Smoke is blowing into New York City, and Forest Fire Service personnel are stationed along the parkway.
All lanes of the Palisades Parkway are open following earlier closures.
