Some departures and arrivals to and from Florida resumed at Westchester County Airport on Friday following Hurricane Ian's destruction down south.
The airports in Tampa and Orlando reopened but others, like Jacksonville's, remained closed.
Westchester County Airport saw packed flights departing and arriving, though there were still some cancellations and delays.
News 12 spoke with Joe and Marisa Critelli, of Valhalla, who said they were going to Disneyworld a few days later than they planned because of the Orlando airport's and the theme park's closure.
"If this was going to get cancelled today, we were going to cancel the whole thing," Joe Critelli said.
Now that major airports in central Florida and Disneyworld reopened, they were able to switch flights and rebook their hotel room.
"It was just nerve-wracking. We didn't know when Orlando was going to open back up again. We just watched everything and adjusted. It was good," he added.
Things also worked out for inbound-traveler Joann Henry, of Tampa.
She lucked out when Hurricane Ian didn't directly hit her are and lucked out again with her plans to fly to New York to visit her grandchildren.
"I actually had plans for today, not knowing anything about Ian, but I became very familiar with Ian," Henry said.
Henry said she hosted friends from the coast who were evacuated from their homes.
Then, just as Henry was supposed to leave Friday, the community around her started functioning again. The airport opened just in time for the flight she booked months ago.
"The International plaza closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so people were really taking this seriously," Henry said.
Not everyone was as lucky as Henry, however, as several flights between New York and Florida were being delayed or cancelled on Friday night.
Travelers were still being urged to check online for their flights' status prior to arriving at Westchester County Airport.
