Police: Derby man faces charges for selling drugs from his car in the Norwalk area

Police say a 56-year-old woman who was shot in Rockland County this morning has died.

The shooting happened at 16 Inwood drive in Hillcrest around 9 a.m., according to police.

Police have been present at the scene for hours, conducting investigations, collecting evidence and taking photos of the area. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Ramapo police and the Rockland Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit, have been involved in the investigation.

During the ongoing investigation, a man in a Honda Civic emerged from his car in a distraught state and was subsequently calmed down by police officers at the scene.

Police have not released any details regarding the victim's identity.

The shooter, 53-year-old Lawrence Byrd, died by suicide after officers followed and approached him as he fled to Stamford, police confirmed.
