South Blooming Grove is adding a second weekly garbage pickup that residents will need to pay for.

Mayor George Kalaj says many residents have been asking for another pickup.

It will start Jan. 19 and take place weekly on Thursdays.

The village will bill residents $20 a month per household.

For residents who already signed up with the disposal company for a second set of cans, the mayor says the company will send a refund.

Some residents say it’s not fair that those who don’t need it have to pay.

Others call it a tax implemented without a month's notice, public comment period or any type of hearing.
