Officials say a space heater caused the fire at a historic mansion in Hyde Park.

The fire broke out early New Year's Day at Crumwold Hall.

Fire officials say open doors allowed flames to spread quickly.

Members of the religious organization that owns the mansion were living there at the time.

Ten adults and one child were displaced.

The town supervisor says firefighters battled the blaze for more than a day while dealing with bitter cold conditions.
