Spokesman: Assembly Member Wieder announces resignation from Rockland Legislature
The Spring Valley Democrat had been serving as both a county legislator and a state Assembly member since being sworn into office in January.

Assembly Member Aron Wieder has resigned effective immediately as a Rockland County legislator, according to a spokesman.
The Spring Valley Democrat had been serving as both a county legislator and a state Assembly member since being sworn into office in January.
Last November, he was elected to represent the 97th District. At the time, he wanted to finish off some projects he was working on.
Wieder says he has made significant progress on those projects and decided it was the right time to resign.
He had been on the board since 2011.
