Spring Valley building department officials have shut down a makeshift-matzo making operation until a proper inspection is conducted.

Deputy building inspector Manny Carmona says Rabbi Aaron Winternitz converted an old bus into a matzo making factory for Passover. The bus has fans, supplies and gas and electric piped in from his home on Wilsher Drive. Police discovered the makeshift bakery last week after a neighbor complained of smelling smoke.

Carmona says Winternitz was issued a letter that stated he cannot use the oven in the bus until a professional proves the oven is safe and is built up to code. Carmona says he also wants the bus detached from the rabbi's home immediately.
