Two men were arrested Monday for allegedly using counterfeit cash at the Palisades Center in West Nyack.
Police say the suspects, both from another state, used a $100 bill at the Home Depot to purchase a $7 six-pack of light bulbs. The cashier then used a counterfeit pen and determined that the bill was not valid. Clarkstown police caught the two suspects in their car with a total of $700 in fake bills, in addition to paraphernalia, which police believe was used to make the cash.
The two men are being held because the courts are closed for Election Day. When arraigned, they will both face forgery charges and federal charges.
