The Department of Environmental Conservation has mandated that the New York Organic Fertilizer Company install an air pressure alarm as a step in reducing the offensive odor in Hunts Point.
The DEC has also changed the company?s permit to include additional measures to monitor and control the odor. New York Organic Fertilizer Company must comply with the measures in order to have its permit renewed by the DEC. To date, the company hasn?t agreed to the steps.
