A New York State Thruway worker was hurt last week in
Westchester when a drowsy driver crashed into their truck in a work zone.
State officials say the Thruway maintenance employee’s truck
was hit Friday in Port Chester on I-95.
Thankfully, they say the employee only suffered minor
injuries and is back on the job.
Monday marks the start of National Work Zone Awareness Week.
Thruway officials say they hope the incident serves as a reminder for motorists
to slow down in work zones and anytime workers are nearby.
State police say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and was
not ticketed.
