Unhappy Stella D?oro workers in the Bronx are still walking the picket lines five months after their strike began.
Those on strike say not much has changed since their original contract expired in July. The company proposed a cut in benefits, reduced wages and the elimination of paid holidays, which is what prompted the workers to go on strike. They say they plan to stay on strike until they get what they deserve.
Meanwhile, workers say they received a letter from the company stating that it has hired permanent non-union employees. The letter also states that only 60 jobs are still available if the workers wanted come back.
Stella D?oro officials say they met with union representatives in mid-December. They say they wanted to meet with the group once more in December, but were told the union wouldn?t be ready to meet with them again until January.
